Home

Nice to be heading home and unwinding after this year’s tour. This ride was a tough one with lots of hills and a tough headwind most of the way. I was a bit ahead of the rest of the team, probably as a result of my 40 mile per day commute that I use as training. That made things a bit difficult as we couldn’t ride as a team very often and the first few days were a bit disjointed. The boys done well though and were never too far behind.

It will feel weird tomorrow, not getting up and ready for cycling, but a day of chilling out will be a nice way to recover. Many thanks to everyone who sponsored us on this year’s trip and helped a very worthy cause :)

End of Day 7

Wow, tough day today. I lost count after at least a dozen 10% + climbs.
The first third of the ride was great, on fast roads with a good tailwind. Lovely! Things got much harder in the afternoon, once we hit the Lake District, lots of very steep little climbs, but the descents were great, if a bit scary at times. Definitely need some new brake pads when I get home!!

Ade’s not been well all day and hasn’t been able to eat anything (apart from some cake!). Can’t believe he managed to get on his bike and ride the 50+ hilly miles today. Great effort.

My bashed knee is only sore when I stop, so I pushed on ahead all day and felt pretty good.

Nice hotel in Windermere tonight and then just 15-20 miles over a few more hills tomorrow morning to get to Oxenholme and the train home to Glasgow.

The pic is on the ferry across Lake Windermere to our hotel :)
