Who is George Imrie?

Ask Googlism and you get the following answer:
"George Imrie is hoping home advantage can help earn him a trip of a lifetime to the bahamas"

....which has nothing to do with me, but sounds good anyway :D

10 + 11 = Scotland’s Highest Roads Ep.2

When: Friday, March 9, 2012 (all-day)

After bagging three of Scotland’s highest roads so early in the year, it’s important to keep the momentum going and tick off as many more as possible before the sportive season starts in earnest.

On March 9 we’ll be tackling two more of the routes in our Scotland’s Highest Roads challenge! Weather permitting, we’ll be climbing number 10 and number 11 in the list. These are a bit handier and the route winds around some of the East Ayrshire roads that we’ve ridden before. Neither of us have been up those hills though and there’s probably a good reason……

Feel free to come along, lend your support or join the ride. Failing that, the least you could do is donate something on the sponsorship page!

Here’s the full route……

Southside 50k

When: Sunday, February 19, 2012 @ 1:22 pm - 3:24 pm

A Sunday leg stretcher after the tough ride on Friday.

I think this might become a regular run from my Southside Winter training base. The climb up to the top of Eaglesham Moor is actually quite a challenge and there’s a great run back into town once you get there. Only problem on Sunday was getting lost a few times as I didn’t have the Navigator with me :)

My stats for the ride with Ade on Saturday. My ride was slightly longer, but I don’t think I can use that as an excuse for the poor performance. Didn’t feel great all day and obviously haven’t been doing enough work over the past few weeks. Bike was brilliant though and I’m sure the old legs will get there eventually! :)

A bad workman can't blame his tools on this occassion.....

ps. the new saddle is a very expensive, very light, medieval torture device :(

The real stats from our ride on Saturday and as Ade predicted, we didn’t quite make it to 62mph!

The Garmin says minimum temperature was 37 degrees, but it definitely felt way colder than that on the descents and especially when we stopped for a quick refreshment :)

New bike was fantastic once I’d tuned the rear derailleur a little bit. Despite the cold, it felt great to be back out on the road again.
