Day 2 – Complete!

Tough day today, but we made it from Dunbar to Lindisfarne in time for dinner.

The route was actually a bit shorter than expected, probably just over 50 miles, but it was pretty hilly with a steady headwind the whole way. We also got lost at least once and Paul and I took a totally separate route to Berwick upon Tweed than the one Ade and Grant ended up on. We all got there around the same time though.
The last bit of the ride was terrible. We decided to follow national cycle route 1, which turned out to be little more than a gravel footpath at best and just a signpost through a minefield at worst!

Grant’s pannier repairs held up, but he did take a tumble at one point crossing the fields on the so called cycle path.

Crossing the causeway to the Holy Island was pretty cool. Strange to be riding on a main road with seaweed lining the edges. The photo is the team in the beer garden of the Lindisfarne Hotel where we are staying. Very nice it is too, with a great host. We had dinner at the Crown and Anchor which was fantastic.

Forecast for day 3 is for rain and we have 50-60 miles to ride to somewhere around Hawick. Watch this space…..

Who is George Imrie?

Ask Googlism and you get the following answer:
"George Imrie is hoping home advantage can help earn him a trip of a lifetime to the bahamas"

....which has nothing to do with me, but sounds good anyway :D
