Scott Sub 20

March 20th, 2008

Scott Sub 20I picked up my Scott Sub 20 in April 2007. I use it as my daily commuter and (for the time being) my main road bike. Initially during the first few weeks of owning it I had some recurring puncture problems, I was picking up as many as 2 to 3 punctures a week which was pretty disheartening. Thankfully though the situation was resolved with the purchase of some kevlar lined tires to better cope with the glass strewn Glasgow streets and I’ve not had a single puncture since.

Having owned it for about a year now I can safely say that it’s been a very good purchase, never letting me down yet (puncture problems aside). As you will see in the pictures (if I ever get around to taking some) I’ve added some racks, changed the bar grips and added some bar ends. I’ve also removed all the stupid reflectors from the wheels, pedals, bars and seat post.

I estimate we’ve probably done around 1000 miles together in the past year including a 400 mile tour round the Western Isles of Scotland (pics here).

There’s a decent review over at bikeradar. Although he doesn’t seem to have had the same puncture problems as myself, he’s obviously not riding the mean streets of Glasgow!

DSC_2688Here’s a pic of my trusty steed out and about of an evening on the South Side of Glasgow. Tha’s the East of Glasgow you can see looking over Cambuslang from up round the Cathkin Braes area.

It was quite a long exposure and the bike was lit using the front light from the bike while the shutter was open. I think it worked quite well.
